Pursuant to Section 1702.101 of the Private Security Act, “unless the person holds a license as an investigations company, a person may not (1) act as an investigations company, (2) offer to perform the services of an investigations company; or (3) engage in business activity for which a license is required under this chapter” unless the individual holds an investigations company license. An investigation company license is the authorization issued by the Private Security Bureau that entitles the person to conduct business as same.

According to the Private Security Act, Chapter 1702, of the Occupations Code, anyone alleging to be, or any companies, and or individuals employed in a field connected to Private Investigation, Forensic Document Examination or Handwriting Profiling (analysis) should be licensed by the State.
